For Teachers and Guidance Counselors
Before you know it, your seniors will be heading off to college.
While there are many factors that contribute to a student not persisting to graduation, more times than not, failure happens in the freshmen year, a result of not having the tools and training to overcome the challenges of this major life transition.
I know how busy you must be helping your seniors navigate the complexities of the college application process. With so many students to serve, it leaves very little time for you to talk to your seniors about what they need to do to prepare for that moment when they walk into a college classroom for the very first time.
For this reason, I created the College Success 101 Presentation. It is my mission to help as many graduates in Northeast Ohio make a smooth transition from high school to college. Typically, I speak to the entire senior class in one (or more) 45-minute sessions in the auditorium. Alternatively, I can spend a half (or full) day in up to 6 individual classes.
I am currently confirming dates for my talk with area high schools and want to make sure your high school is on my list to visit this fall or spring. Feel free to contact me by email at email@example.com or phone at 440-503-3126 and I will send you the calendar with available dates for your consideration and confirmation.
Take care and hope to talk soon.

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATION
Professor Bill Leamon’s presentation to our graduating seniors was engaging and entertaining, as much as it was informative. He was right “on point” with identifying the many challenges college freshmen often encounter, as well as offering concrete solutions to achieve college success. We definitely intend to invite him back again next year.
Professor Leamon’s 45-minute presentation was engaging from start to finish and students actively participated throughout. Bringing in guests is always a risk and we must be selective when taking time away from academics. All the teachers in attendance asked me to bring Professor Leamon back next year, feeling it is exactly what our students need to know to succeed in college.
This is the second year that Professor Leamon has presented to our senior class about college success. His presentation is thorough, interesting, and relevant. Having him speak to our students about syllabi, building relationships with professors, and general college success was tremendously helpful and engaging for all students. We saw a new confidence in many of our students at the end of the session as Professor Leamon had given them the secrets to success and they were eager to put his tips into practice.
